How to Pawn or Sell Your Motorcycle

February 04, 2020 - Vehicles

So you want to sell or pawn your motorcycle to get some quick cash.

Something most sellers don’t realize is that selling a motorcycle can be extremely difficult, due to how many low priced motorcycles are available to purchase. To help you pawn or sell your motorcycle for fast cash, I’d recommend posting your bike on PawnGuru. Pawn shops specialize in different kinds of items, and many of them don’t take bikes or cars – so you’ll want to get in front of the ones that do quickly. I recommend you follow these tips to get the most money for your motorbike.

Clean Your Bike

A clean bike attracts buyers and especially pawn shops. A bike that looks clean and well maintained shows pawn shops that you took care of the bike and that it will last for quite a while. Take a hose and some soap to your bike and restore that shine it use to have. An overlooked area to clean is the space under your seat, where mud and dust maybe cake up. You should also ensure the battery terminals don’t have any calcium build-up. If you can, I would highly recommend removing any rust from chrome or metal parts and some touch up paint.

Get a mechanic’s check-up

Take your motorcycle for maintenance. The mechanic should check all the basics such as battery, oil, chain and tire pressures. They should also check the engine and anything else that looks like it needs to be replaced soon. After they’ve done all this, make sure you get the documentation that you’ve gone to a mechanic for maintenance. A receipt from the mechanic will work just fine. Proof of work guarantees you a better offer.

Gather all your documentation

Make sure you have proof of ownership, finance details, remaining warranty and service/maintenance records. Pawn shops won’t do business with you without all that documentation because it is against state and federal laws. Documentation makes pawn shops trust you, and trust means a bigger cash offer.
