How to Get an Online Pawn Loan

February 26, 2020 - Pawn Resources

Are you in need of cash, like, now?

This minute? You could ride around town trying to look for the best offer, or you could do it from the comfort of your own home.

It’s better to use an online pawn store, where you can get offers from multiple shops. You’ll get top dollar offers without leaving your home.

Want to learn more about how this works? Read below.

1. Know What You Want to Pawn

Though there are probably at least 10 things at your house you’d like to sell for some money, not all of them are pawn-worthy. For example, no one wants a VCR, it’s 2019.

So let’s talk about a few things pawn stores do want – you’ll get more offers more quickly if you’re strategic about what you pawn.

Pawn shops love jewelry, brand name clothing or accessories (in good condition), guns, and relevant electronics. If you have a phone from the last two years – that’s worth something too.

Unique items are fun to pawn, but you have to think about the resale value. For example, there won’t be a ton of buyers for a vintage record if that star isn’t popular where you are.

2. Make a PawnGuru Account

Signing up for PawnGuru is free and it needs less information than you need to set up a Facebook account. You’ll give them a few details about yourself and where you live.

The location is so that local pawn shops can send you an offer. You’ll have to drive the item out to them to complete the transaction.

Once you’ve signed up for an account, you’ll see an option to create a listing. That’s the next step.

3. Create a Listing

Now that you have an account, you’ll need to create a listing for whatever the item is you’d like to pawn. You’ll create a different listing for each item, so start with whichever item you’d like.

Find a well-lit room and lay down some sort of solid fabric on a table. Put the item on the table and take high-quality photos of your item. Smartphones are fine, just make sure to focus your shot first.

If you have any certificates or receipts, take a photo of that too for the listing. This will bring you more attention.

Upload your photo and fill out the rest of the information. Move on to your next item and repeat the process. When you’re done you should have all separate listings with photos.

4. Wait

Depending on the type of item you’re trying to pawn and the condition it’s in, you’ll have to wait for the offers to roll in. The better condition/value the item is, the more offers you’ll get.

If you get an offer you like, accept it, polish it up, and bring that item to the pawn store.

5. Pawn Your Item

Once you’re at the pawn shop, the broker will inspect your item. They’ll then walk you through the offer and loan process if they decide to proceed.

You can then get cash or a loan, depending on your preference.
