Whether you need to sell or pawn tennis rackets, golf clubs or skis, it’s important to get the best deal. If you take to a site such as Craigslist to sell your sports equipment to an individual person in your local community, you’re up against a few different challenges.
We’ll let you in on the reasons you should think twice before using Craigslist, as well as why you should sell your sports gear at a pawn shop and how to get the most money possible.
The first challenge with selling your used sports equipment on Craigslist is you might be dealing with someone who doesn’t know just how much your equipment is worth.
Say the buyer is trying a new sport and they aren’t familiar with the various brands that cater to that sport, and you’re selling an item from a premium brand. They could offer you an unfair price, not knowing that your sports equipment is top notch. After coming to a disagreement, you realize you just wasted your time and need to move on to the next potential buyer.
The fact that time is money is reason enough to avoid Craigslist. So, what about sites such as eBay? Well, if you’re looking for cash and a quick sell, you’re going to be disappointed.
Pawn shops are fantastic for selling your used sports equipment for cash. Yes, you can outright sell your sports gear without involving any of the loan process! It can be a one-and-done deal.
While these shops have been portrayed in a poor light for quite some time, they are actually run professionally by experts with years of experience determining the fair value of various used items.
Pawnbrokers know what they are talking about when it comes to giving appraisals for valuable items, making them a more solid buyer than someone you connect with on Craigslist. Pawn shops are gaining popularity as their expertise has been brought to light in recent years with main stream television shows, such as Pawn Stars.
Pawn shops just might be the best kept secret among folks who need the convenience of a local, professional buyer who knows the fair value of their used items.
If you are unhappy about parting ways with your sports gear for the sake of getting quick cash today, perhaps you will consider pawning it.
When you pawn used sports gear, you can get cash in hand today from a pawn shop and get your sports equipment back as long as you pay them back the money plus interest and fees.
If you don’t believe you will be able to pay back the pawn shop in the case of pawning your sports equipment, we suggest you sell it outright to the shop.
Essentially, when you pawn or sell used sports equipment at a pawn shop, you get all the following benefits. These are hard to come by in the most popular methods of selling used goods.

I didn’t know that you could sell a local pawn shop your gear and then pay them back with interesting and fees to get the items back. This seems like a good way to see how you feel about having parted with your property and see if you could find a use for it or not. Regardless, taking your items to a pawn shop to see what it’s worth could be a great way to motivate yourself to get rid of the things you don’t care about quite as much.

I’ve never really been able to use pawn shops before, and I think that being able to get cash for things that we don’t use would be great! You talked about being able to have cash in hand today when you sell things to pawn shops, which I think could be good in case I need money in a pinch. I’m going to have to see if I can find any pawn shops that I could use in the future and see how I can best use it!

I really like the tip of getting a fair price of our used items and equipment because of the experience of the pawn brokers. My wife and I have been trying to get rid of our old sports equipment, and we didn’t know where to start in terms getting a fair price. I will be sure to tell my wife that a pawn shop might be a smart place to start!
