Pawning or Selling an Xbox

February 08, 2020 - Electronics

Since the launch of the original Xbox gaming console in 2001, Microsoft Xbox Live has grown to 64 million members.

What that bit of information should tell you is that the Xbox is a popular item. Pawn shops absolutely love popular items. If you have an Xbox you would like to sell or pawn, I’d recommend trying PawnGuru first. We’ll bring you multiple offers from pawn shops near you, so you can get the most cash for your Xbox. Before submitting your item, here are a few tips you should follow that can help you get top dollar for your Xbox.

Wipe the Memory

The first thing you want to do is delete your profiles from the console and clean out the storage space. You do this by going to Settings > Manage Storage and then delete all game data, including saves. You could alternatively delete local saves from the same Settings menu, one button down. Then, just to be safe, you should restore factory defaults which is the next button down in that same Settings category. Also, your data should sync to the new Xbox One when you enter your profile data the first time. I would do some research on games with saves that you really value, in case some games don’t support that feature.

After you’ve wiped all the storage clean from your Xbox, the next thing is to clean your Xbox. All there is to this is just dusting out your Xbox. If there is any dirt on the surface, take a damp cloth to it and wipe it clean. Leave scratches alone; they’re probably not worth your money or effort to fix. As long as the scratches you have on your Xbox are minor, your offer price could still be pretty high.

Packaging & Accessories

Pawnbrokers love game consoles that are the total package. The most important accessories you want to make sure you have with your Xbox are the controller(s), HDMI cable, power cable, and power brick. These items are essential to getting the Xbox to work and play with. Other items like the headset and kinect camera aren’t too important, but if you have them then I would suggest adding them to the package because that will drive your offer price up. Include the original packaging if you have it. Take a look at the table below to see how much you can get for your Xbox.

ConsoleOffer Price
Xbox 360$40-225
Xbox One$50-225
If you follow all my instructions, you should be able to get a great offer price on your Xbox. If you have any questions, please feel free to send us an email at We’re eager to help!
